In an age before State Welfare this could be the difference between life and death for the widows and orphans of members.

The Society was involved in setting up the Public Park, providing a horse drawn Fire Pump and installing the first gas street lighting in the village.

For over 250 years we have been working quietly to help local organisations and individuals

Today the Society raises funds through its Membership who turn out time and again to support or events and functions.
